TAG Heuer stood out at Dubai Watch Week 2025 with its first stand-alone booth at a watch fair. There, the Swiss brand unveiled two bold versions of its iconic Monaco - the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 and the Monaco Chronograph inspired by the Formula 1® night circuits.

Limited to just 30 pieces, the first model, the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1, takes cues from the aerodynamics of hypercars. The timepiece is crafted out of Grade 5 titanium using Selective Laser Melting (SLM), an aerospace-derived additive manufacturing process that produces a sculptural, hollowed form weighing only 85 grams. Its twin-layered honeycomb mesh takes after the hyper-engine covers. The case is further accented with 2N yellow gold and black DLC-coated titanium.

The watch features a striking sapphire dial with crisp white markings, enhanced by white applied Super-LumiNova® blocks and refined golden-lacquered indexes. The 3 o’clock position features a black opaline minute chronograph counter with white markings and a golden-lacquered hand; the 9 o’clock position gets a black opaline hour chronograph counter; and the 6 o’clock position features a finely brushed and sandblasted Grade 5 titanium permanent seconds indicator ring with black markings and a rhodium-plated hand. Rhodium-plated openworked hour and minute hands with white Super-LumiNova® and golden-lacquered tips complement the aesthetic, alongside a white-lacquered central chronograph hand and a golden-lacquered central split-seconds hand.

Driving the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 is the Calibre TH81-00, developed by TAG Heuer together with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. This high-frequency automatic calibre beats at 5 Hz and offers a 65-hour power reserve when the chronograph is off and 55 hours when the chronograph is on. It features titanium construction for reduced mass, and the rattrapante split-seconds complication, all finished with a chequered-flag motif visible through the sapphire caseback in tribute to the brand’s racing heritage. The timepiece is completed with a black rubber and Alcantara strap, closed with a black DLC Grade 5 titanium butterfly folding clasp.

Alongside this technically strong novelty is a vivid 600-piece edition Monaco Chronograph, coloured in the neon-lit circuits of Formula 1® night races. Its black DLC-coated titanium case measures 39 mm with a lug-to-lug of 22 mm, and a thickness of 14 mm. It houses a skeletonised dial that fades from violet to deep blue like the shift from twilight to full night. It further intensifies in the dark with blue Super-LumiNova® marking the chronograph, turquoise accents on the hands, green lume on the time-reading elements and date, and a mix of purple and blue SLN glowing across the skeletonised arches and minute track. The sapphire caseback follows the colour palette with an iridescent metallisation that moves between blue and purple.

Visible from both sides, the in-house automatic Calibre TH20-00, beating at 4 Hz with an autonomy of 80 hours, powers this vibrant watch. A strap blending black rubber and embossed calfskin, finished with purple stitching, ties the entire visual concept together.
