Mido has introduced a new all-black PVD version of its renowned One Crown timepiece – the Multifort 8 One Crown (Ref. M055.507.37.051.00) brings a darker and more technical aesthetic to the brand’s octagonal integrated sports watch line. Founded in 1918, Mido has built its reputation on robust, well-priced mechanical watches, and the Multifort line traces its roots back to 1934, when the brand combined water resistance, shock resistance, anti-magnetism, and automatic winding into one modern tool watch.

Unlike the earlier Multifort 8 Two Crowns, which featured an internal rotating bezel operated by a second crown, the One Crown opts for a cleaner and more versatile layout with a single screw-down crown. The watch retains its distinctive tonneau-shaped case, octagonal bezel, textured dial, and integrated bracelet design, resulting in a contemporary sports watch with a strong 1970s-inspired character.
The stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter, 9.9 mm in thickness, and 44.86 mm lug-to-lug, with a black PVD coating that enhances its stealthy appearance while visually reducing its size. Brushed and polished surfaces accentuate the angular architecture of the case and the geometric bezel, while a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, an exhibition caseback, a screw-down crown, and 100 metres of water resistance ensure everyday durability.
The dial follows the same monochromatic theme, featuring a matte black finish with the Multifort collection's signature horizontal grooves. Applied polished hour markers and faceted hour and minute hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility, while a diamond-polished central seconds hand provides subtle contrast. A slim white minute track replaces the internal rotating bezel found on the Two Crown model, creating a more open dial, while a practical date window sits at 3 o'clock.

Powering the watch is the automatic Mido Calibre 80, based on the ETA C07.611. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), it offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve and features a Nivachron balance spring for enhanced resistance to shocks and magnetic fields.
Completing the black theme is a matching integrated rubber strap with horizontal relief detailing that mirrors the dial texture. It is equipped with a quick-change system and secured by a black PVD-coated pin buckle.
The Mido Multifort 8 One Crown Black PVD joins the collection at a retail price of approx. INR 1,10,000.
