Jaeger-LeCoultre has presented the Calibre 101 Chain, a gem-studded watch that combines miniature mechanical watchmaking with jewellery design. The watch takes inspiration from the 1955 Duoplan model nicknamed the ‘Chain’ for its 18K pink gold braided chain bracelet made of polished heavy links. The similar chain pattern has been carried to the new timepiece, giving it a distinct bangle look. The timepiece has also been made from 18K pink gold, accentuated with diamonds.

‍

‍

The timepiece measures 18.60 mm in length, 5.98 mm in width, and has a thickness of 6.75 mm. The crafting process includes unique moulds, followed by refining and preparation of gold for the decorative element. The design has 36 recesses filled with high-gloss black Liquid HyCeram®, which has been carefully injected into the moulds with a hand-held syringe. Finally, this liquid is put through pressure and heat, and then polished to obtain a rich colour and glossy reflection.

‍

At its centre sits a black lacquered dial that matches HyCeram® elements on the bangle. Time is shown with stick-shaped hands that display hours and minutes. The dial is framed by a diamond-set bezel. A master gem-setter from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Métiers Rares™ atelier intricately places 158 diamonds onto the watch, weighing 2.73 carats.

‍

‍

Powering the watch is the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 101. This in-house, manually wound mechanical movement was first introduced in 1929 and still stands today as the world’s smallest rectangular manual-winding movement. It operates at a frequency of 3 Hz, offers a power reserve of 33 hours, and has 98 components, including 19 jewels.

‍

The price of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 101 Chain (Ref. JLQ2842270) is available upon request.
