TAG Heuer presents a new carbon hairspring and moonphase complication

At Geneva Watch Days 2025, TAG Heuer introduced a groundbreaking mechanical innovation—the TH-Carbonspring hairspring. The Swiss brand debuted this proprietary component in two models: the Monaco Flyback Chronograph TH-Carbonspring and the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport TH-Carbonspring. Additionally, TAG Heuer unveiled a novel moonphase complication housed within the Carrera Astronomer.

The TH-Carbonspring has been developed entirely in-house by TAG Heuer’s research laboratory after more than ten years of experimentation. Made from carbon, the hairspring offers lightness, magnetic resistance, and enhanced shock absorption, resulting in a movement that is both more stable and precise over time.

The first, the Monaco Flyback Chronograph TH-Carbonspring, features a 39 mm case sculpted from forged carbon, paired with a black carbon dial featuring a spiral motif and white Super-LumiNova-coated hands and markers. Visible through the sapphire caseback, the in-house automatic Calibre TH20-60 powers the timepiece. This chronometer-certified movement, featuring a flyback chronograph function, offers an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Water resistant to 100 metres, it is fitted with a black rubber strap embossed with a textile pattern.

The other timepiece, Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport TH-Carbonspring, features a 44 mm forged carbon case paired with the same bezel, which carries a tachymeter scale, and a black carbon dial engraved with a spiral pattern. At 6 o’clock, it features a tourbillon, powered by the automatic Calibre TH20-61. The movement delivers a 65-hour power reserve and features a skeletonized rotor and a checkered-pattern mainplate. A black rubber strap accompanies the watch and is also water-resistant up to 100 metres.

The other timepiece unveiled at Geneva Watch Days is the Carrera Astronomer, which displays a new interpretation of the moonphase. Rather than a symbolic representation, the Astronomer displays the moon’s position across its 29.5-day orbit with daily accuracy, advancing at precisely 1:00 AM each day. The timepiece also nods to TAG Heuer’s heritage in space exploration, most notably when astronaut John Glenn wore a modified Heuer 2915A stopwatch during his orbital mission aboard NASA’s Friendship 7 in 1962.

The Carrera Astronomer arrives in three stainless steel versions measuring 39 mm in diameter. The core model features a silver sunray-brushed dial with black and grey accents. The second is a limited edition of 500, with turquoise Super-LumiNova on the dial and hands, paired with a grey leather strap. The third model is also limited to 500 pieces, and features rose-gold accents on the case, hands, and flange, paired with a two-tone bracelet. The novelty is powered by the automatic Calibre 7, which offers a 56-hour power reserve. The sapphire caseback is decorated with an astronomical observatory and Victory Wreath engraving. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters.

The Monaco Flyback Chronograph TH-Carbonspring is limited to 50 pieces and is priced at approximately. INR 18,80,000. The Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Extreme Sport TH-Carbonspring, also limited to 50 pieces, is marked at approx. INR 44,25,000. The Carrera Astronomer starts at approx. INR 4,80,000.
