Rado has unveiled two new additions to its Captain Cook collection for 2025. The new Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Chronograph comes in two versions - black ceramic with rose gold accents (Ref. R32190153) and plasma ceramic with deep green detailing (Ref. R32189313).

Both models, measuring 43mm wide and 16.2mm thick, mark the first use of a high-tech ceramic monobloc case in the Captain Cook chronograph line. The ceramic is applied across the bezel inserts and bracelets, making the timepieces lightweight, scratch-resistant, and visually cohesive. The case is topped with a box-shaped sapphire crystal. The chronograph pushers and the crown are screw-down, enhancing durability in challenging environments. Each model is water-resistant up to 300 metres and paired with either a black or plasma high-tech ceramic bracelet.

The black ceramic version is completed with rose gold PVD-coated stainless steel on the bezel, crown, and pushers. The black dial features indices and hands in rose gold tones, filled with white Super-LumiNova® for optimal visibility.

The plasma ceramic model introduces a fresh colourway to the series, combining metallic ceramic tones with a polished dark green ceramic bezel insert and a matching green dial. Rhodium-coloured hands and indices contrast elegantly against the green, while polished stainless steel components accent the bezel, crown, and pushers.

Both timepieces feature central hands and three chronograph subdials positioned at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. A trapezoidal date window also sits at 3 o’clock, integrated seamlessly into the dial design. Powering the watches is Rado’s automatic calibre R801, offering a 59-hour power reserve. The movement includes an antimagnetic Nivachron™ hairspring, which enhances long-term accuracy and resistance to environmental effects.

What we think -

A huge fan favorite, a line of watches with tremendous history, the Captain Cook gets upgrades that are worth a look. This is Rado throwing everything at their most successful modern range of watches - High-Tech Ceramic, in-house chronograph movement, lovely colors, you name it. To some, it may seem like overkill, but it makes perfect sense for Rado to make these watches better than ever before.
