Vacheron Constantin has unveiled the Métiers d’Art Tribute to The Celestial collection, featuring twelve watches, each dedicated to a zodiac constellation and its astrological sign. This new series builds on a one-of-a-kind piece created in 2021—the Minute Repeater Tourbillon Sky Chart Leo Constellation Jewellery, known for its detailed Leo zodiac design and diamond-set constellation on the dial. That watch became the inspiration for this full zodiac collection.
This new collection continues Vacheron Constantin’s long-standing interest in astronomy and zodiac themes, which so far have been carried by the brand’s timepieces—a 1927 Art Deco table clock with zodiac symbols, made with Verger Frères; the 1996 Mercator Ref. 43050, showing the Chinese zodiac in colourful enamel; the Legend of the Chinese Zodiac series, launched in 2012; the Copernicus Celestial Spheres (2017); and rare pieces like the Les Cabinotiers Astronomica, Reference 57260, and the Berkley Grand Complication.
The Métiers d’Art Tribute to The Celestial collection features 39 mm timepieces made from 18K white gold. The bezel, lugs, and crown are set with 96 baguette-cut blue sapphires, totalling about 3.87 carats, using the channel-setting technique.
The dial, made from 18K 5N rose gold, is hand-guilloché engraved with the zodiac sign—a traditional decorative technique that takes about 16 hours per dial. The related constellation is drawn over a dark blue background, and its stars are marked with small diamonds. For signs with human figures—Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Aquarius—opaline details have been added.
The outer edge of the dial features a rail-style minute track, with hour markers made of white gold, finished with a grooved texture. The hour and minute hands are sword-shaped, made from polished white gold, and have angled edges for better readability. At 6 o’clock, a tourbillon also serves as a small seconds display—it includes a hand-finished bar and heat-blued screws, and its cage is shaped like the Maltese Cross.
Turn the watch over, and a sapphire crystal caseback allows a full view of the mechanical movement inside. Each watch is powered by the ultra-thin Calibre 2160, an automatic tourbillon movement made completely in-house. It runs at 2.5 Hz and offers an 80-hour power reserve. A 22K gold peripheral rotor allows the movement to be seen clearly.
Each watch comes with a dark blue alligator leather strap, lined with more alligator leather for comfort. It’s fastened with an 18K white gold folding clasp, also set with baguette-cut sapphires. All models carry the Poinçon de Genève (Geneva Seal), a prestigious mark of quality and precision. These watches are made in limited quantities and are sold only at Vacheron Constantin boutiques.
