Ulysse Nardin returns to its maritime roots with its latest release - the Diver [Hammerhead Shark], a 300-piece limited edition that celebrates the brand’s 180-year legacy of oceanic precision while championing marine conservation. It is the latest in a series of shark-inspired timepieces following the Great White Shark, Lemon Shark, and Blue Shark models.
Leading this conservation effort is Ulysse Nardin ambassador Mike Coots, who became a shark preservation advocate after losing his leg in a tiger shark attack while bodyboarding off Kauai, Hawaii, at age 18. Instead of fearing the predator, Coots returned to the ocean with a prosthetic leg and dedicated his life to protecting sharks. As a professional photographer, diver, and conservationist, he played a pivotal role in the 2010 Hawaii shark fin ban and continues to educate the public on sharks’ ecological importance. In 2022, he partnered with Ulysse Nardin to raise awareness about endangered shark species.
The Diver [Hammerhead Shark] features a 44mm blue PVD-coated titanium case, evoking the depths of the ocean while offering the strength and lightness needed for aquatic performance. A unidirectional rotating bezel with a rubberised blue insert allows for precise dive timing, and the screw-down crown, flanked by bold red protectors, ensures 300-metre water resistance and added shock resistance.
Its sandblasted blue dial displays Ulysse Nardin’s signature red-and-blue "X" motif. At 6 o’clock, a luminous small seconds subdial includes a date window for legibility in dim conditions, balanced by a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock.
Inside, the watch is powered by the in-house UN-118 calibre, a COSC-certified movement that operates at 4 Hz with a 60-hour power reserve. It includes Ulysse Nardin’s DiamonSil escapement and silicon balance spring, offering excellent anti-magnetic protection, low friction, and enhanced durability.
Reinforcing its mission, Ulysse Nardin has pledged 1% of the model’s annual sales to support marine conservation through 1% for the Planet, a UK-based non-profit and partner of Shark Trust. This commitment is honoured with a red hammerhead shark engraving on the caseback alongside the watch’s edition number. The back of the blue rubber strap also features the 1% for the Planet logo on its titanium link.
Each piece comes with two straps: a blue rubber strap with red hammerhead detailing and a blue fabric strap with red trim and Velcro closure for adjustable wear.
The Ulysse Nardin Diver [Hammerhead Shark] is priced at approximately ₹11,80,000.
What we think -
Ulysse Nardin had a killer Watches & Wonders 2025 with the Diver [Air] and now they are back with a staple from their stables. The Titanium metallurgy at Ulysse Nardin has been their USP for decades now and this new iteration of the Diver, aptly called Hammerhead Shark, is a fun spin on their otherwise professional performance attitude.
