Tudor has pulled back the curtain on its latest chronograph—the Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” (Ref. M79377KN-0001), which pays tribute to the brand’s more than five decades of motorsport heritage. The watch draws design inspiration from the 2025 Visa Cash App Racing Bulls Formula One Team livery, marking a significant step forward in Tudor’s ongoing partnership with the racing world.
The 42 mm case is completely redesigned and crafted entirely from lightweight yet robust carbon fibre, including the fixed tachymetric bezel and even the end links that secure its hybrid leather-rubber “tire pattern” strap. Complementing the carbon fibre construction are PVD-finished titanium screw-down pushers and a crown embossed with the Tudor rose. This material choice reduces the watch’s overall weight—ideal for motorsport timing, where speed and agility are paramount.
Beneath the domed sapphire crystal lies a ‘racing white’ dial with hollowed black carbon fibre sub-counters, featuring a 45-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, small seconds at 9 o’clock, and a date aperture at 6 o’clock. Staying true to the Black Bay lineage, the watch includes Tudor’s signature Snowflake hands—first introduced in 1969—filled with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova® and paired with bevelled lugs that echo its vintage diver roots.
Powering the Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” is the automatic manufacture Calibre MT5813, a COSC-certified chronograph movement developed in partnership with Breitling. With a 70-hour power reserve, a column wheel mechanism, vertical clutch, and a non-magnetic silicon balance spring oscillating at 4 Hz, the calibre exceeds chronometric standards with a precision rating of -2/+4 seconds per day for the assembled watch (COSC allows -4/+6 seconds per day for uncased movements). The movement is enhanced with an open tungsten monobloc rotor and laser-decorated bridges.
Waterproof to 200 metres and limited to 2,025 numbered pieces—engraved on the PVD-treated titanium caseback—the Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25” is priced at ₹6,47,500.
What we think -
Tudor continues to kill it in a highly competitive range. They have long since moved out of the shadows of their accomplished big brother and fully come into their own. Tudor’s play with materials and technologies is now becoming a mainstay in their portfolio.
