All the watch news, reviews, videos you want, brought to you from fellow collectors
This year, German watchmaker Sinn is celebrating 10 years at its Römerberg location - Frankfurt’s historic old town - which has served as a proud symbol of the brand since 2015. The boutique is housed in the Haus zum Goldenen Rad, a heritage-listed building and a treasured destination for Sinn collectors and enthusiasts.
To commemorate this milestone, Sinn has released a special 100-piece limited edition: the 1739 Römerberg. This commemorative model features a glossy crimson red dial with a sunburst finish - its colour inspired by the red Main sandstone used in the façade of the building - and is accentuated with hand-applied appliqués. Embracing minimalism, the dial displays only hour and minute hands.
The 1739 Römerberg is housed in a polished stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter and just 9.1 mm thick, offering a sleek, timeless profile. Both the dial and caseback are covered by anti-reflective sapphire crystal. A notable detail appears on the engraved rotor, which features the silhouette of Frankfurt’s renowned city hall, the Römer.
Sinn equips the watch with its D3-System crown for increased durability, and the case is built to meet DIN 8310 standards for water resistance - tested up to 100 metres and resistant to low pressure. While the specific calibre may vary slightly depending on the production batch, each timepiece is powered by a reliable, finely decorated mechanical movement, assembled in Frankfurt.
The watch is paired with two straps - a burgundy Alcantara strap and a black calfskin leather strap - allowing the wearer to switch styles with ease. Each set includes a folding clasp, spare spring bars, and a strap-changing tool.
What we think -
Every year, around this time, Sinn breaks away from its tool, functional, utilitarian mindset and releases a commemorative Frankfurt special edition which accentuates the wider design sensibilities of the German watchmaker. The deep hues of crimson are truly breathtaking on this latest novelty from Sinn.
