Seiko has launched a new limited-edition timepiece, exclusively for India—the Seiko 5 Sports Forest Green Sunrise, inspired by the first light of dawn in India’s forests and limited to 2,025 pieces. Seiko has collaborated with wildlife photographer Varun Aditya, whose work focuses on capturing moments of dawn and natural light. Each watch comes with a photograph by Aditya, presented in a custom-designed scroll.

The design of the Forest Green Sunrise reflects the natural landscape that inspired it. The deep green dial captures the forest canopy, while golden accents on the rotating bezel echo sunlight filtering through the trees. The model is powered by Seiko’s Calibre 4R34 automatic movement, which includes GMT functionality for keeping time across multiple zones.

The watch is designed for both rugged use and versatility, featuring a stainless-steel bracelet as well as an interchangeable forest green strap. Other technical features include a cyclops lens over the date display, a transparent case back, and water resistance up to 100 metres.

The company has also partnered with Grow-Trees, pledging to plant five trees in Nainital, Uttarakhand, for every watch sold, in support of Himalayan biodiversity.

Niladri Mazumder, President and COO of Seiko Watch India, said, “The Seiko 5 Sports Forest Green Sunrise is one of our most-awaited launches of the year, crafted especially for India. With only 2,025 pieces available, it is not just a watch but a celebration of nature, adventure, and the spirit of exploration. For enthusiasts and collectors, it represents a rare opportunity to own a piece of Seiko’s legacy while embracing the call to explore the wild.”
The Seiko 5 Sports Forest Green Sunrise - India Limited Edition is priced at INR 50,000, and is available through Seiko’s online store and boutiques across the country.
What we think -
Yet another India specific edition from Seiko that somehow misses the mark yet again. Not to say the watch is bad, it isn’t by any means. This watch marketed as a regular release would make more sense than piling on the India tag to it. We guess repeated editions from the brand tailored for India may lead to better editions from the Prospex and Presage lines in the future. As Seiko fans we can surely hope.
