Oris has introduced a new non-limited version of its Big Crown Pointer Date, bringing back a dial design collectors know as the “Bullseye”. The watch builds on one of Oris’s longest-running models and reflects the brand’s long-standing independence and focus on mechanical watchmaking.

Founded in 1904, Oris remains one of the few Swiss watch companies that is fully independent today. With an independent mindset, the brand has focused on aesthetically pleasing and accurate watches. The Big Crown Pointer Date, designed in 1938, captured this philosophy and the hearts of watch lovers in its era. The timepiece was created as a specialised tool for pilots. Its oversized crown was ergonomic with flight gloves, while large Arabic numerals ensured legibility. Its signature central pointer hand - indicating the date along the dial’s periphery - offered an alternative to the traditional date window.

The new Big Crown Pointer Date "Bullseye" edition draws from an even earlier design language first seen on Oris pocket watches in the 1910s, characterised by a two-tone concentric dial. This layout saw various iterations through the mid-20th century and a brief revival in the late 1990s before this current reintroduction.

The timepiece features a 38 mm multi-piece stainless steel case with a thickness of 12.2 mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 45.5 mm. Its dial employs a grey and black concentric colour scheme, highlighted by a red date track that corresponds with the red-tipped pointer hand. For legibility, the Arabic numerals, indices, and hands are treated with Super-LumiNova. The watch is topped with a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating and features a fluted bezel, a hallmark of the Big Crown series.

Under the hood, the watch is powered by the Oris Calibre 754 automatic movement. Visible through a mineral glass window on the screwed caseback, the movement provides a 41-hour power reserve and includes a stop-seconds function for precise time-setting. The case is equipped with a screw-in security crown and is water-resistant to 5 bar (50 metres), supporting its utility as a daily-wear watch.

Aligning with the brand’s sustainability initiatives, the "Bullseye" is fitted on a black Cervo Volante deer leather strap. It is designed with a quick-change system, allowing users to swap it easily without tools.

The Oris Big Crown Pointer Date "Bullseye" is priced at approximately INR 2,20,000.
