Norqain, the independent Swiss watch brand known for its adventure-ready timepieces, has introduced a more compact 40mm version of its Independence Skeleton. Available in stainless steel or black DLC-coated steel, the two new models bring a refined size without compromising the rugged spirit of the original.
The case measures 40 mm in diameter and 12.05 mm in thickness, featuring brushed, polished, and sandblasted finishes, along with a screw-down crown flanked by protective guards and Norqain’s signature plate on the left case flank. Both the front and back are fitted with flat sapphire crystals with double anti-reflective coating. The watch is water resistant up to 100 metres.
The openworked dial showcases anthracite bridges and a matching sloping flange with faceted, black-plated indices filled with white X1 Super-LumiNova. The skeletonised hour and minute hands also feature SLN tips, while the central seconds hand has a coloured lumed tip—turquoise on the steel model and orange on the black DLC.
The watch is powered by the COSC-certified calibre NB08S, based on the Sellita SW200-1S. This automatic movement runs at a 4 Hz frequency and delivers a 41-hour power reserve, and is reinforced by connecting arms for added impact resistance. A personalised Norqain rotor is visible through the skeletonised design.
The steel version is available with an anthracite rubber strap for INR 3,95,000 or a steel bracelet for INR 4,21,000. The black DLC model comes with either a khaki or black rubber strap, both with a Milanese texture, and is priced at INR 4,15,000.
What we think -
Great watches, unique design language, a brand that speaks to the consumers and has one ear to the ground. But repetitive releases are getting a bit long in the tooth. Maybe a refresh of the Freedom collection is next?
