Independent watchmaker Ming has celebrated its eighth anniversary with a milestone timepiece, the Ming 57.04 Iris. In just eight years, the brand has delivered more than 15,000 watches across 75+ references and three design languages, while earning two GPHG awards. The new 57.04 Iris is the fifth-generation timepiece in the brand’s collection, celebrating this journey.
This anniversary edition measures 40 mm in diameter, 11.85 mm in thickness, and 47.8 mm lug-to-lug. Its design is inspired by Art Deco architecture with a modern touch. The signature element of the case construction is the stepped lug design, executed in nine separate components. The lug tops are polished, while the sides are satin-brushed. The case is water-resistant to 100 metres.
The Iris gets its name from the dial. The metallic deep-dish dial features a multiphasic colour-shift coating over a machined brass base, producing a dynamic play of hues that transition between turquoise, violet, and multiple shades of blue in between. The effect is further enhanced by the fluted radial pattern, the floating luminous indices, and a sandwich-style chronograph minute counter disc filled with Super-LumiNova® X1. The top crystal incorporates laser-cut indices filled with Ming Polar White lume, delivering both sculptural depth and glowing legibility in low light.
The 57-series debuts with a monopusher chronograph, driven by the Ming Cal. SW562.M1, created in collaboration with Sellita. With a 60-hour power reserve, this is a destro-configured manual-wind movement (left-handed) with central chronograph seconds and a 30-minute counter at six o’clock. The destro layout allows for a large, tactile crown and pusher at nine o’clock, designed for comfort without interfering with the wrist. The anthracite mainplate is topped with a sculptural 4N-coated three-quarter plate, contrasting richly with the rest of the movement and visible through the sapphire caseback.
The timepiece comes with a Ming Universal Bracelet in stainless steel, as well as an anthracite goat leather strap fitted with a stainless steel tuck buckle.
Limited to just 100 pieces, the Ming 57.04 Iris is priced at approximately INR 6,85,000.
