MB&F has expanded its most radical chronograph concept with the Legacy Machine Sequential Flyback EVO, bringing its complex double-chronograph architecture into the brand’s rugged, all-terrain EVO collection. Building on the GPHG ‘Aiguille d’Or’—winning LM Sequential EVO from 2022 and the Sequential Flyback from 2024, the watch is powered by a movement conceived by independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, featuring two fully independent column-wheel chronographs regulated by a single oscillator. Central to the design is the Twinverter switch, a fifth pusher that instantly reverses the running state of both chronographs, enabling multiple timing configurations. It was the 2024 evolution that added flyback functionality to both chronographs, creating five distinct timing modes, including independent, simultaneous, split-seconds-style, cumulative, sequential lap timing, and full flyback operation.

The timepiece is now offered in MB&F’s robust EVO architecture. The 44 mm case is crafted from grade 5 titanium, combining brushed, sandblasted, and polished surfaces, and measures 18.2 mm in height. Lightweight yet resilient, it incorporates MB&F’s proprietary FlexRing shock absorber positioned between the case and the movement to protect the delicate mechanism from shocks. A screw-down crown improves water resistance to 80 metres. The five pushers control the watch’s functionality, with four dedicated to the twin flyback chronograph mechanisms and the signature Twinverter pusher at 9 o’clock. With a single press of this “magic button,” as McDonnell calls it, the wearer can simultaneously start, stop, or swap the running states of both chronographs.

The aquamarine dial plate provides a vivid backdrop for the two chronographs’ displays. The 60-second counters lie at 9 and 3 o’clock, and the 30-minute counters at 11 and 1 o’clock, all indicated by Super-LumiNova-treated hands. Floating above them is the oversized flying balance wheel at 12 o’clock. For this EVO edition, the hours and minutes display is placed on a black sub-dial at 6 o’clock that is subtly tilted towards the wearer, thereby improving legibility.

Powering all of this is a fully integrated, manual-winding movement created exclusively for MB&F by McDonnell. Comprising 621 components, the calibre beats at 3 Hz and uses twin barrels to deliver a robust 72-hour (three-day) power reserve, with an indicator visible on the back. The movement is finished with darkened NAC-treated bridges contrasting against polished bevels, bright rubies, and hand-finished details visible through the sapphire caseback.

Completing the timepiece is an integrated rubber strap, giving it a sporty appeal. It is attached to the hollowed-out, sandblasted lugs and closed with a titanium folding buckle.
The MB&F Legacy Machine Sequential Flyback EVO is priced at approx. INR 2,00,25,000.
