Maurice Lacroix has unveiled the 1975 Master Grand Date Retrograde, featuring a retrograde complication that has become closely associated with the brand for 25 years. This new addition to the Masterpiece collection is powered by the ML302 manufacture calibre, marking the 26th in-house movement developed by the company, and combines a retrograde day indication with a large double-window date and a partially skeletonised dial.

The watch is presented in a 42 mm x 12.75 mm stainless steel case featuring a blend of brushed and polished finishes, and topped by a box-style sapphire crystal offering improved legibility from various angles. The case includes two integrated correctors for adjusting the date and day functions and is water-resistant up to 50 metres.
The dial architecture is designed to showcase the mechanical complexity of the movement. A sapphire dial provides a view of the black rhodium-treated, sandblasted mainplate, contrasted by rhodium-finished bridges. The central hours and minutes are tracked by faceted, trapeze-shaped hands filled with white Super-LumiNova. For visual clarity, the central seconds hand is finished in rhodium, while the retrograde day hand is blued.

Technically, the dial is divided into two primary focal points. A grand date at 12 o’clock is composed of a double-window display with two independent discs for tens and units, leaving the mechanics visible to the wearer. The other is the retrograde day at 6 o’clock, where a blued hand moves across a thin sapphire track. At the end of Sunday, the hand instantly snaps back to Monday to reset the weekly cycle.

The automatic ML302 movement beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and provides a 38-hour power reserve. It is decorated with perlage and colimaçon on the rotor side, while the dial side features trait tirée bridges and a sandblasted front plate. A skeletonised rhodium rotor is visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback.

Completing the design is a black calf leather strap with an alligator-style embossed pattern, featuring a stainless steel butterfly clasp and the brand’s ‘Easy Strap Exchange’ system for tool-free replacement.
The 1975 Master Grand Date Retrograde (Ref. 758008-SS001-090-2) is priced at approx. INR 7,90,000.
