For the upcoming Year of the Horse, Longines has unveiled a special edition of its Master Collection, strengthening the brand’s long-standing connection to the equestrian world. A limited edition of 2,026 pieces, the watch has been designed in collaboration with the Peon Art Museum in China, featuring a motif from pioneering modern Chinese painter Peon Xu’s celebrated painting, Galloping Horse. The timepiece celebrates renewal, momentum, and freedom - values closely associated with the horse in Chinese culture.

Longines has a long-standing relationship with equestrian sport, rooted in its production of horse-themed chronographs dating back to the 1870s. Today, the brand serves as official timekeeper, partner, and sponsor for major international events, including Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) competitions and the Longines European Equestrian Federation Series (EEF). Through such partnerships, Longines supports elite competition and talent development across disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, and flat racing. The brand shares its values with the sport - embracing elegance, precision, performance, and tradition.

Peon Xu (1895–1953) was known for merging Western painting techniques with the expressive vitality of Chinese ink art. His galloping horses have become enduring symbols of strength and forward drive. For this project, the artwork has been carefully engraved onto the 2N yellow-gilt oscillating weight of the movement, so that with every movement of the wrist, the horse appears to surge forward. The engraving is complemented by Peon Xu’s personal seal. The timepiece has been curated by Qingping Xu, Peon Xu’s son and an accomplished calligrapher who continues the family’s artistic legacy.

The watch itself is housed in a 42 mm stainless-steel case measuring 11.20 mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug length of 49.70 mm. A sapphire crystal with a multi-layer anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, while a transparent sapphire caseback reveals the engraved rotor and bears the inscription “YEAR OF THE HORSE - LIMITED EDITION - ONE OF 2026”. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres.
The gradient sunray-brushed dial takes inspiration from the glow of sunrise - an auspicious symbol of new beginnings. It is complemented by twelve applied gilt 2N indexes and polished gilt hands, while a moonphase display at 6 o’clock is combined with the date indication.

Powering the watch is the exclusive Longines automatic calibre L899.5, equipped with a silicon balance spring for improved resistance to magnetism and enhanced precision. The movement beats at 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5 Hz) and delivers an extended power reserve of up to 72 hours.

The Longines Master Collection Year of the Horse is paired with a black alligator leather strap, secured by a stainless-steel triple safety folding clasp with push-piece opening. The watch is priced at approximately INR 3,10,000.
