On the occasion of the 60th birthday of founder Jacob Arabov, Jacob & Co. has presented the God of Time, a limited edition of 60 that has set a new world record for the fastest tourbillon in a wristwatch. The watch features a tourbillon that completes a full rotation every four seconds, a speed 15 times faster than the industry-standard 60-second rotation. This technical achievement surpasses the earlier long-standing record held by the Franck Muller Thunderbolt Tourbillon, which has a rotation speed of five seconds per revolution. The mechanism is framed within a design that draws heavily from Greek mythology and classical architecture.

To support the energy requirements of such high rotational speeds, Jacob & Co. developed the Calibre JCAM60. The hand-wound movement consists of 283 components and operates at a frequency of 3 Hz. To reduce energy consumption, the tourbillon carriage is manufactured in titanium and weighs just 0.27 grams, despite its 12 mm diameter. A constant-force mechanism ensures stable energy delivery, while power is stored in two sets of stacked barrels to support the extreme demands of a tourbillon rotating once every four seconds.

The aesthetic of the God of Time centres on the architecture of Greek temples. The 44.5 mm 18K rose gold case is sculpted to resemble an Ionian Greek column. This architectural theme continues onto the dial, which is made of blue aventurine to evoke a star-filled sky. In addition to the tourbillon, the other highlight is a three-dimensional, hand-engraved 18K rose gold sculpture of Chronos, the Greek god of time. The figure, which measures 37 mm in length and 1.5 mm in height, is engraved, polished, burnished, and patinated over several days, bringing out an exceptional level of detail in its facial features, garments, and musculature.

The watch’s layout is designed to accommodate its unique mechanics. The ultra-fast tourbillon is positioned prominently on the right side of the dial and secured under a transparent sapphire upper bridge. The left side of the watch is dedicated to time setting via a crown placed at 9 o’clock, while winding is performed through a flip-bow crown integrated into the caseback.

The caseback features a blued sapphire crystal printed with a portrait and the signature of Jacob Arabo. The watch is paired with a blue alligator leather strap, closed with an 18K rose gold deployment clasp.
