IWC Schaffhausen has added a fresh pop of colour to its celebrated Colors of TOP GUN collection with the launch of the new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Miramar. The brand has developed a new shade of light blue—named ‘TOP GUN Miramar’—in collaboration with Pantone®. This colour takes inspiration from the light blue T-shirts worn by elite TOPGUN instructors. The novelties, measuring 41 mm, are introduced in a ceramic version and a stainless steel model. This marks the first time a Pantone® colour has been used in a steel IWC timepiece.
The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Miramar (Ref. IW389409) is limited to just 1,000 pieces and features a 41 mm case made from Miramar-coloured ceramic, created using zirconium oxide mixed with metal oxides. The result is a soft, matte finish that pairs seamlessly with the dial and rubber strap, both of which are finished in the same Miramar blue. The matching blue hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® for enhanced legibility in low light. A titanium case back engraved with the “TOP GUN” logo houses a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields.
The second model, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388117), brings the Miramar aesthetic to a stainless steel platform. This version features a blue rubber strap and dial in the same Miramar shade. Rhodium-plated hands filled with Super-LumiNova® ensure visibility in darker conditions, and the open case back offers a view of the movement within.
Both watches are powered by IWC’s in-house 69380 calibre, part of the 69000 series known for reliability, robustness, and chronometric precision. This automatic chronograph movement features a column wheel for smooth function control, a double-pawl winding system for efficient energy build-up, and a 46-hour power reserve. It drives the vertically arranged subdial layout, placing the chronograph minutes at 12 o’clock, the 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock, and the small seconds at 6 o’clock.
Staying true to IWC’s user-friendly philosophy, both models come equipped with the EasX-CHANGE® system. This allows wearers to swap out straps without tools—simply pressing a button integrated into the strap makes switching between rubber, leather, or fabric bands quick and effortless.
What we think -
IWC is on a big mission, no pun intended, to reclaim their spot as the go-to brand for pilot’s watches. This lovely new blue shade is playing to the market and demand and making sure the watch and brand’s relevance is fully intact. Now imagine - this shade on the Ingeneur!
