In recent years, the Santos de Cartier collection has evolved into a refined interpretation of the elegant sports watch. Expanding it, the Maison has introduced two new Santos de Cartier LM models: one in stainless steel with a bold black dial, and the other in titanium - a first for the collection and the true highlight of this release.

The Santos de Cartier LM Steel Black Dial edition (Ref. CRWSSA0096) reimagines the classic design with subtle but impactful details. The black dial now features Roman numerals and sword hands, both coated with Super-LumiNova. The vertically brushed centre contrasts with the discreet sunray finish on the periphery. A matching date disc and a refined railroad minute track with luminous hour plots maintain visual balance.
The timepiece is encased in the signature stainless steel case measuring 39.8 mm x 9.38 mm, featuring a polished bezel with visible screws and the heptagonal crown set with Cartier’s signature blue spinel cabochon. The Calibre 1847 MC automatic movement, with a 42-hour power reserve and 4 Hz frequency, powers the watch. The model is paired with a steel bracelet equipped with Cartier’s QuickSwitch and SmartLink systems for effortless strap changes and size adjustments, and an additional nubuck alligator strap is included.

The spotlight, however, falls on the Titanium Santos de Cartier LM (Ref. CRWSSA0089), which marks a bold moment for the brand - the first all-titanium Santos ever made. While previous models have featured titanium elements, this new release takes the material to its fullest expression, from case to bracelet. The dimensions remain similar to the steel version. Cartier uses Grade 5 Extra Low Interstitial titanium (Grade 23), known for its purity and lightness, resulting in a total weight of under 100 grams compared to 145 grams in steel. The watch is lighter, more ergonomic, and extremely comfortable on the wrist.
On the exterior, the surfaces are bead-blasted for a matte texture, accented by polished bevels. The traditionally polished bezel is now matte, contrasting elegantly with the polished screws, while the heptagonal crown features a black spinel cabochon, continuing the monochrome aesthetic. The bracelet follows the same finish, creating a seamless look. The dial has a silvery-white face with black Roman numerals, a secret signature, and blued steel hands. Inside, the watch runs on the same Calibre 1847 MC as the steel version and comes flanked with an additional grey nubuck alligator strap equipped with the QuickSwitch system.

The Santos de Cartier LM Steel Black Dial edition is priced at approximately INR 8,85,000, while the Titanium Santos de Cartier LM comes at approximately INR 11,20,000.
What we think -
Probably the best Santos Large models after the Blue editions from 2022. The Titanium version makes it a true tool watch than the dressy kinda-sorta sports watch black hole the Santos de Cartier was rapidly falling into. Good way to stage a comeback, we say.
