Commemorating the Chinese Year of the Fire Horse, Blancpain has unveiled the Villeret Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel, marking the maison’s fifteenth interpretation of the traditional Chinese calendar. Debuting in 2012 for the Year of the Dragon, the Villeret Traditional Chinese Calendar featured a distinct combination of three complex functions - the Gregorian calendar, the lunisolar Chinese system, and a moon phase.

For this 2026 edition, Blancpain has introduced a new aesthetic element to the collection with a salmon-rose Grand Feu enamel dial, marking the first time this colour has been used by the brand for this model. Housed in a polished platinum case measuring 45.2 mm in diameter, 15.1 mm in thickness, and 52 mm from lug to lug, the dial layout follows the established design codes of the Villeret collection. There’s a double-stepped case, a Grand Feu enamel dial with painted enamel indications applied before firing, and a chapter ring composed of applied white gold Roman numerals and dots. The openworked, leaf-shaped hands and the blued steel serpentine hand for the Gregorian date reference Blancpain’s historical designs from the 18th century. Five patented correctors are subtly positioned beneath the lugs to allow adjustment of the calendar indications without interrupting the clean case profile.
Capped by a sapphire crystal, the dial displays a full suite of traditional Chinese calendar indications, including the zodiac sign of the Year of the Horse in an aperture at 12 o’clock, double hours, Chinese date, month and intercalary month indicator, the five elements and celestial stems, as well as moon phase indications. The Gregorian date is shown on the periphery using Arabic numerals, indicated by the blued serpentine pointer hand.

Powering the watch is Blancpain’s automatic calibre 3638, a movement developed over five years and comprising 464 components. The movement is driven by three barrels that deliver a seven-day power reserve. It operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and incorporates a silicon balance spring for improved chronometric stability. The movement is fitted with an 18K white gold rotor, frosted and engraved with a galloping horse and a flying swallow, flanked by a natural ruby and the Chinese characters for “horse” and “fire.”
The watch is water-resistant to 30 metres and is fitted with a brown leather strap secured by a white gold pin buckle.
The Blancpain Villeret Calendrier Chinois Traditionnel is produced as a limited edition of 50 pieces and is priced at INR 89,98,000.
