Geneva’s independent watchmaking brand ArtyA has presented a new pièce unique—the Curvy Purity Tourbillon Ruby, personally selected by Philippe Dufour for a special charity auction. The timepiece will be sold on May 10, 2025, at Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo in Geneva. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Philippe & Elisabeth Dufour Foundation to support its humanitarian initiatives. The charitable organisation, founded in 2023, assists individuals in crisis or vulnerable situations by offering essential services, including emergency shelter, food assistance, healthcare, counselling, and legal support.
Designed by Jérémie Arpa, son of ArtyA founder Yvan Arpa, the 38.5 x 43 mm tonneau-shaped case is a standout feature of the timepiece. It is made from ruby-red sapphire crystal, chemically identical to natural ruby, and combines sapphire’s exceptional Mohs 9 hardness with vibrant chromatic depth. Under UV light, it glows with a vivid incandescent hue.
At its heart is ArtyA’s Curvy Purity Tourbillon, the brand’s third in-house movement, developed with barrel drums for seamless integration into the tonneau case. The skeletonised movement includes hand-beveled bridges, frosted with cast-iron microbeads, a dual-barrel system for stable energy delivery, and an 18 mm flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock beating at 4 Hz, ensuring exceptional chronometric precision. Powering the hours, minutes, and seconds on the flying tourbillon, the calibre offers a 72-hour power reserve.
The watch is water-resistant to 30 metres and comes with a black nubuck strap fastened with a pin buckle. The Curvy Purity Tourbillon Ruby is estimated to fetch CHF 160,000 at auction.
Philippe and Elisabeth Dufour commented, “We all come from somewhere, we all have a story, and we can all be bearers of hope. Beyond differences in color, culture, belief, and ethnicity, we all suffer in the face of adversity. Suffering knows no boundaries, and neither does poverty. In the face of these hardships, we are all equals. We do not claim to save the entire world, but together, we can make a difference. May tears be transformed into optimism with our selfless help, and may every heart, where boundless kindness resides, remind us of our shared humanity. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the watchmaking community that supports our cause and shares our values for this second charity auction, as well as to Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo and their entire team. With them, we are confident that the spirit of solidarity will continue to thrive.”
