Armin Strom’s Orbit is the world’s first watch to feature an on-demand date display integrated into a ceramic bezel. This timepiece debuted in 2022 with a monochromatic aesthetic. The brand has now added a pop of colour to the collection with two new references that stand out for their colourful dials—Orbit Lime Green (Ref. ST25-OR.05) and Orbit Ice Blue (Ref. ST25-OR.21).
The Orbit is built on Armin Strom’s acclaimed Gravity Equal Force platform but takes the date complication a step further. Instead of a static pointer or aperture, the watch features a unique on-demand date hand, controlled by a pusher at 10 o’clock. Driven by its column-wheel mechanism, the date hand jumps to the correct numeral on the ceramic bezel when pressed; pressing it again sends the hand neatly back to the 12 o’clock position.
Both new models feature a 43.4 mm stainless steel case and matching bracelet. The fixed black ceramic bezel is engraved with white numerals and houses the signature date display. On the dial side, a gradient treatment draws the eye—bright lime green or soft ice blue at the centre fades to black toward the edge, creating a vivid contrast with the openworked mechanics and off-centre time display. The dial is colour-matched with the “date” inscription and the pointer tip of the central hand, and also features a small seconds display. The hour and minute hands are rhodium-plated steel and filled with Super-LumiNova®.
Powering the timepieces is the brand’s in-house automatic calibre ASS20, which features Armin Strom’s patented Equal Force Barrel with a Geneva stop-work mechanism for consistent power delivery. It provides a 72-hour power reserve and beats at a 3.5 Hz frequency. In addition to the column-wheel-controlled date complication, the movement also includes a micro-rotor and a power reserve indicator on the barrel. It is decorated with hand-applied anglage, perlage, and Geneva stripes—all visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Both timepieces are limited to just 20 pieces each and come on a stainless steel bracelet with a double-folding clasp. Each model is priced at CHF 36,000.
