First launched in 2010, the Lange 1 Daymatic went off production in 2020. The timepiece brought an interesting twist to the iconic Lange 1, mirroring its asymmetrical layout and replacing the power-reserve indicator with a retrograde day-of-the-week display. After creating versions in platinum, yellow, white, and pink gold, A. Lange & Söhne has unveiled the newest version of the Lange 1 Daymatic in its warm Honeygold.
The timepiece was launched on 7 December, commemorating two milestones tied to that date - the founding of German precision watchmaking in Glashütte by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in 1845, and the brand’s revival by Walter Lange in 1990 following German reunification. The new model is limited to 250 pieces.

The Daymatic retains the unmistakable identity of the Lange 1, first introduced in 1994, but presents it in a mirrored layout created specifically for its self-winding movement. The off-centre time display appears on the right side of the dial, while the subsidiary seconds and the signature outsized date sit on the left. In place of the power-reserve indicator found on the manually wound Lange 1, the Daymatic introduces a retrograde day-of-the-week display along the left side of the dial.

For the first time, the Lange 1 Daymatic is housed in 75H Honeygold®, a proprietary alloy developed by A. Lange & Söhne known for its warm hue and exceptional hardness. The case measures 39.5 mm in diameter and 10.4 mm in thickness, and is paired with a brown dial crafted from 925 silver. The recessed hour-and-minute ring adds depth, while the white numerals of the outsized date contrast clearly against the brown background. The appliqués, hands, and date frame are also in Honeygold.

Powering the watch is the automatic manufacture calibre L021.12, featuring an 875 gold central segment engraved with the brand signature and a 950 platinum centrifugal mass. The movement beats at 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour, or 3 Hz, and delivers a 50-hour power reserve. True to Lange’s tradition, each movement is assembled twice and finished by hand. Details such as the hand-engraved balance cock, Glashütte ribbing, blued screws, and screwed gold chatons are visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.
The A. Lange & Söhne Lange 1 Daymatic is flanked by a taupe, hand-stitched alligator leather strap, secured with a solid Honeygold buckle, reinforcing the warm tonal palette of the piece.
