A fresh ice blue dial for the new Minase Uruga collection
A fresh ice blue dial for the new Minase Uruga collection

Japanese watchmaker Minase has unveiled a refreshing evolution of its Uruga collection featuring an ice blue dial. The name Uruga is a fusion of the Japanese words Uruwashii (beauty) and Myabi (elegance).

Available in 31mm and 42mm case sizes, the watches are crafted in 316L stainless steel. The collection’s construction is built on Minase’s distinctive ‘clamping case structure,’ a method adapted from gemstone settings. Brushed clamps contrast against mirror-polished case surfaces. The curved sapphire crystal is clamped from below—following the vertical contour of the bezel—enhancing the case’s brilliance while supporting its 50-metre water resistance.

The larger model is specifically designed for men, and the smaller model for women. The 31mm model is adorned with six genuine diamonds alternating with asymmetrical indices on the dial. The new ice blue dial, with its horizontally embossed wave-like texture, takes inspiration from the flowing Minase River. The intricate pattern of interlacing lines symbolises infinity. Both models feature a date window at 3 o’clock.

Inside the 42mm model beats a high-end Swiss ETA 2892 movement, customised by Minase, with a 4 Hz frequency and a 50-hour power reserve. Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement is finished with perlage, diamond-polished bevels, and a black gold bridge, accented by blue screws and a striking checkerboard date disc. Minase’s drill-head logo appears on the rotor, which rotates on MPS ceramic bearings for enhanced durability and precision.

The 31mm edition houses the ETA 2671, a smaller automatic movement similarly decorated and featuring the brand’s signature rotor design. Despite its compact dimensions, it offers the same mechanical precision.

The new Uruga collection now expands to include white and black rubber straps, in addition to its existing stainless steel and leather options.
