Dutch watchmaker De Rijke & Co. has presented the second series of its popular Amalfi special editions, continuing its long-running collaboration with UK-based illustrator Guy Allen, known for work with automotive and horological clients including Porsche, Aston Martin, BMW, and the auction house Phillips.

Amalfi Series 1

Founded by Laurens De Rijke, the brand began as a personal project during a vintage Vespa road trip across Eastern Europe before evolving into a recognised indie watchmaker known for its signature rotating-case design, first seen in the three limited-edition Amalfi Series driver’s watches in 2024, with pictorial enamel dials inspired by the themes Land, Air, and Sea. The Land edition in red referenced 1950s Italian GT cars, Air in blue depicted the Macchi Castoldi M.C.72 seaplane, and Sea in sea-green celebrated a classic wooden speedboat. The collection features a distinctive two-piece case that can rotate 90 degrees so the dial remains correctly oriented while the wearer has their hands on the steering wheel.

Sahara

Building on a similar theme, the new Series 2 timepieces are named Amazon, Sahara, and Turini, each limited to 50 pieces. These watches have been introduced in a fully ceramic two-piece case, a notable development compared with earlier iterations that used ceramic and steel. The cases are water resistant to 50 metres.

Amazon

Topped by a sapphire crystal, each watch uses a champlevé enamel dial crafted on a solid 925 silver base. The lower half incorporates 3D engraving with subtle variations in depth, covered with a polished layer of transparent grand feu enamel, creating visual depth and a dynamic play of light. Guy Allen executes the enamel work, while the engraved casebacks are manufactured in-house and the watches are hand-finished and assembled at the De Rijke atelier outside Rotterdam.

Turini

The Amalfi Series 2 measures 38.2 mm in diameter and 11 mm in thickness. It is powered by the automatic Sellita SW300, featuring a self-winding rotor with a ball bearing, a stop-seconds mechanism, and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The watch displays hours, minutes, and central sweep seconds and is fitted with a quick-release strap system with an 18 mm lug width.

Each of the three Amalfi Series 2 timepieces is priced at approx. INR 4,90,000.
