Breitling has unveiled a fresh collection for women - the Lady Premier - inspired by the brand’s 1940s Premier Fantaisies models, introduced by Willy Breitling as a graceful adaptation of chronographs.
Breitling’s Premier line has been influenced by the fact that women were the first to adopt the trend of wearing wristwatches, almost 100 years before it became a prominent accessory for men. The Queen of Naples, Caroline Murat, wore the first wristwatch, the Breguet No. 2639, in 1812; and in 1904, Louis Cartier created the first wristwatch for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont.
The Lady Premier has been offered in two versions - the Automatic 36 and SuperQuartz 32. The four 36 mm automatic models are crafted in stainless steel or 18K gold, with a thickness of 9.90 mm. Topped by cambered, glareproof sapphire crystals, the dials arrive in warm tones of Aubergine, Sage, Dove Grey, and Chocolate, paired with matching gradient alligator-leather straps. Inside ticks the Breitling Calibre 10, a COSC-certified automatic movement that beats at 4 Hz with about 42 hours of power reserve.
The three 32 mm versions feature stainless steel cases with mother-of-pearl, Ink Blue, or Midnight Black dials. These models are powered by the Breitling Calibre 77 SuperQuartz™, the brand’s proprietary movement introduced in 2001, offering accuracy about ten times better than standard quartz.
In keeping with Breitling’s commitment to responsible luxury, the collection uses ethically sourced gold and traceable lab-grown diamonds for four models - Sage and Dove Grey in the 36 mm line, and Ink Blue and Midnight Black in the 32 mm category. All dials are finished with a combination of satin-soleil and circular brushing, numerals at the cardinal points, and lozenge-shaped hands.
The timepieces are water-resistant up to 100 metres. Matching gradient alligator-leather straps flank the 36 mm automatic models, while the 32 mm models are fitted with a new tapered seven-row Chevron bracelet, a feminine reinterpretation of the men’s Premier bracelet.
