Breitling has unveiled a fresh update to its iconic Superocean Heritage collection, with new case sizes and movement upgrades, unidirectional ratcheting bezels, and water resistance of up to 200 metres. Amongst the new releases, there’s a brand-new 40 mm Superocean Heritage—a sleeker size for a larger audience. The novelties also celebrate surfing legend Kelly Slater with a limited-edition design that pays tribute to his lifelong connection with Hawaii. The new lineup is accompanied by a 500-frame capsule collection of sunglasses, which Breitling has co-designed with British eyewear brand Cutler and Gross, featuring arrow-shaped temple tips and Milanese-style engraving.

Superocean Heritage B01 Chronograph 42

The Superocean Heritage B01 Chronograph 42 stands as the flagship chronograph model in the new collection. Encased in 42 mm of stainless steel or a two-tone blend with 18K red gold, the watch features a glareproofed cambered sapphire crystal, screw-locked crown, and a sapphire caseback. The dial comes in black, blue, or green, outlined with a matching ceramic bezel, and showcases tone-on-tone subdials. The hands and indexes are filled with Super-LumiNova® for optimal readability.

Powering the model is the in-house Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, offering a 70-hour power reserve. The timepiece comes flanked with a rubber strap or stainless steel Ocean Classic mesh bracelet.

Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic

The Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic collection presents Breitling’s first three-hand manufacture movement—the Caliber B31. Available in 44 mm, 42 mm, and 40 mm sizes, each model is powered by this automatic COSC-certified movement, with a 78-hour power reserve and a quick-set date function. Crafted in stainless steel or steel combined with 18K red gold, the cases are completed with glareproofed cambered sapphire crystals, screw-down crowns, and sapphire casebacks. The 44 mm and 42 mm models are combined with stainless steel or traceable 18K red gold with ceramic inserts, while the 40 mm version has a ceramic-insert steel bezel.

The models offer dial options in black, blue, or green with Super-LumiNova® hands and indexes. Either colour-matched rubber or a refined stainless steel Ocean Classic mesh bracelet flanks the timepieces.

Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 40 Kelly Slater Limited Edition

Paying tribute to legendary surfer Kelly Slater and his deep connection to Hawaii, the Superocean Heritage B31 Automatic 40 Kelly Slater Limited Edition is a limited edition of 500 pieces. The 40 mm stainless steel timepiece features a striking blue dial adorned with a tropical foliage pattern, evoking the play of light and shadow beneath the Hawaiian canopy. The timepiece also houses the automatic Breitling Manufacture Caliber B31. The case includes a glareproofed sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, and sapphire caseback engraved with “One of 500” and “Kelly Slater Limited Edition.” The watch is offered on a blue rubber strap or stainless steel bracelet. It arrives in a special presentation box accompanied by a personal note from Slater himself.

The most compact watch for the sea amongst Breitling’s new offerings is the Superocean Heritage Automatic 36, tailored for those who prefer a smaller case size without sacrificing performance or style. Housed in a 36 mm stainless steel case that’s just 10.42 mm thick with a 42.84 mm lug-to-lug height, it runs on the automatic Breitling Caliber 10, with a 42-hour power reserve. The watch is available with a blue or green dial, each paired with a matching ceramic bezel and enhanced by Super-LumiNova® hands and indexes for optimal visibility. The timepiece is flanked by a colour-matched rubber strap or the signature stainless steel mesh bracelet.

What we think - 

Under Georges Kern, Breilting can do no wrong. Revamping a treasured and staple collection, one with tremendous diving heritage and performance history, in new colors, sizes, and current movements is a welcome move. For a brand that has everything going for it, now is the time to experiment with some quirky mechanisms.
