Independent watchmaker Urwerk has unveiled the UR-101 Diamond Sky, a limited-edition timepiece with a diamond-studded case, an unconventional design element for the brand known for its rugged, futuristic aesthetics. The timepiece is a revival of Urwerk’s first-ever model, the UR-101, exhibited at Baselworld when the brand was founded in 1997. Presented in Geneva ahead of Watches and Wonders 2026, the timepiece combines its signature wandering hours, displayed as a trajectory across a 180-degree arc, with a gem-set case.

Alongside the wandering hours, the watch also retains other defining characteristics of the original UR-101, including the crown positioned at 12 o’clock and angular lugs. The stainless steel case measures 42 mm and is mechanically engraved with a geometric pattern inspired by abstract constellations, with each intersection set with a diamond. In total, 214 responsibly sourced diamonds, graded D–E–F VVS+, amounting to 1.63 carats, sparkle across the case.

Time is indicated via two rotating satellites carrying the hours that traverse a 180-degree minute scale from left to right. The next hour appears once the preceding one has completed its path. The hours and minutes are treated with Super-LumiNova for legibility. This display is protected beneath a glareproof metallised sapphire crystal. The water resistance is rated at 30 metres.

Running the timepiece is the automatic Calibre UR-1.01V, which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with a 48-hour power reserve. The movement is constructed using materials such as copper, brass, and ARCAP P40 (a copper-nickel alloy known for its non-magnetic properties and extreme corrosion resistance). It is finished with snailing, sandblasting, satin-brushing, and chamfered screw heads.

Completing the timepiece is a textured white rubber strap lined with black calfskin and secured by a steel pin buckle.
Limited to just 25 pieces, the Urwerk UR-101 Diamond Sky is priced at approximately INR 1,00,70,000.
