Last year, Tissot paid tribute to the iconic anime by Go Nagai, UFO Robot Grendizer, with the PRX Powermatic 80 40mm Grendizer Special Edition. Now, on the manga’s 50th anniversary, the brand once again evokes memories of the classic series with a darker interpretation - the new PRX Grendizer 50th Anniversary Special Edition. Limited to 1,975 pieces, it commemorates the year Go Nagai first created Grendizer.
The new edition comes in a 40 mm black PVD-coated stainless steel case. Its dial, protected by sapphire crystal, showcases a sculpted figure of Grendizer with a clenched fist, designed as if breaking through the crystal itself. The engraved and textured figurine comes alive in the dark when its eyes and fist glow in yellow Super-LumiNova - the same luminous material is applied to the hour and minute hands. Furthering the theme, the seconds hand draws inspiration from Grendizer’s Double Harken weapon.
The timepiece is powered by Tissot’s Powermatic 80 calibre, offering an 80-hour power reserve and equipped with a Nivachron balance spring for anti-magnetism. The mineral crystal caseback reveals Grendizer’s engraved figure, accompanied by the inscription “TISSOT X GRENDIZER” and its individual limited-edition number.
Completing the watch is the PRX’s integrated bracelet in black PVD-coated steel, secured with a triple-blade folding clasp. The timepiece is water-resistant to 100 metres.
Priced at approx. INR 99,000, it is presented inside a UFO Spazer-inspired capsule housed in a gold-and-black outer box, accented with hand-signed drawings by Go Nagai.
