After the successful Pepsi special-edition timepiece, the Seiko 5 Sports is now painted in the charming colour of The Pink Panther. A limited edition of 9,999 pieces worldwide, the Seiko 5 Sports x Pink Panther Limited Edition (SRPM07) uses the familiar Seiko 5 Sports profile and displays the character’s antics from The Pink Phink, the animated short in which he mischievously repaints the Little Man’s house pink. The timepiece continues the growing trend of special character watches. Previously, the 5 Sports collection has featured timepieces tied to characters such as Street Fighter V, Naruto & Boruto, Peanuts, and Bruce Lee, among others.
The stainless-steel watch measures 38 mm × 12.1 mm, with a 44.2 mm lug-to-lug length, and brings the Panther’s signature bright pink colour to the dial, the markings on the unidirectional rotating bezel, and the counterbalance of the seconds hand. Through Seiko’s proprietary Hardlex crystal—known for its scratch- and shatter-resistant properties—the subtle Pink Panther footprints on the dial, taken from The Pink Phink, are visible. The hands and indices are filled with Lumibrite, and the day/date aperture appears at 3 o’clock. The signature recessed crown of the line is positioned at 4 o’clock.
Beating inside is Seiko’s reliable automatic calibre 4R36, featuring a stop-seconds function and a 41-hour power reserve. The movement sits beneath a closed caseback engraved with “Limited Edition” and a unique serial number, showcasing the Panther hiding behind a pink wall. Suitable for everyday wear, the watch is magnetic-resistant up to 4,800 A/m and water-resistant to 100 metres.
A specially themed nylon strap with “WET PAINT” text and footprint graphics is included, alongside a stainless-steel bracelet. The packaging itself is a collectable piece, presenting the playful battle between the Pink Panther and the Little Man in his half-painted house.
