Swiss watchmaker Perrelet has introduced a new limited edition timepiece exclusive to the Middle East and limited to 99 pieces. The timepiece, Weekend Sand Dunes, is inspired by desert landscapes and pays tribute to the Arabian Desert. The watch joins the brand's Weekend collection, following the Starry Sky released last month.
With this latest edition, Perrelet moves beyond its traditional palette of silver, black, and blue—complete with embossed dunes in Pantone 727C, a soft gradient shade shifting from light brown to salmon pink—evoking the windswept sand formations of the Arabian Peninsula, which spans over 2.3 million square kilometers and ranks as the fourth-largest desert in the world.
This relief is crafted with exceptional attention to detail by designers and artisans at Perrelet’s Bienne-based workshop. Applied silvered Arabic hour indices circle the outer dial, complemented by a minutes flange also marked in Arabic numerals. A discreet date window at 3 o'clock continues the regional theme with Arabic script. The slender seconds hand is accompanied by hour and minute hands coated with Super-LumiNova®.
The watch comes in a 39 mm stainless steel case with a slim 9.56 mm profile, combining polished and satin-brushed finishes. The dial is topped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and a mineral glass case back offers a view of the movement while also featuring a tampography of desert dunes in black and Pantone 727C.
Water-resistant to 50 metres, the case back is inscribed with the image of dunes along with the limited edition number, the phrase “Middle East Limited Edition,” and the model reference.
Powering the Weekend Sand Dunes is the automatic Perrelet P-321 calibre, an in-house movement manufactured by Soprod, Perrelet’s sister company owned by entrepreneur Miguel Rodriguez. The movement offers a 42-hour power reserve, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz, and features circular-grained bridges and a Perrelet-logo rotor mounted on ball bearings for enhanced efficiency.
The timepiece is paired with a brown calfskin leather strap with an alligator-embossed finish. The strap is designed with a quick-release mechanism for easy swapping and secures via a steel pin buckle engraved with the Perrelet logo.
The Weekend Sand Dunes will be available exclusively in the Middle East region through authorized retailers. It is priced at approx. INR 1,60,000.
