The story goes back to 1968 when astronauts aboard Apollo 8 became the first humans to orbit the Moon. On this historic voyage, each of them was wearing an Omega Speedmaster as their timekeeping companion. Honouring this enduring lunar legacy, Omega has unveiled seven new models in the Speedmaster Dark and Grey Side of the Moon collection - which debuted in 2013 - now crafted in ceramic with four dial variations and flanked by newly designed rubber and nylon straps.

Measuring 44.25 mm, these black or grey ceramic timepieces are brushed and polished, and house Co-Axial Master Chronometer movements, upgrading from the 2013 versions, which used older movements.

The manual-winding Black Edition, powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9908, features a matte black dial, a red central chronograph hand, and contrasting grey and red markings in a noticeably slimmer profile.

A refined evolution of the original Dark Side of the Moon appears with the Calibre 9900, offering a Liquidmetal™ tachymeter bezel (an alloy exclusively used by Omega, which offers enhanced scratch resistance and durability), a laser-brushed two-plate dial, and a slim case design.
Another model in full black showcases the same Calibre 9900, with darkened movement components, an enamel tachymeter scale, and diamond-polished bevelled indexes filled with Super-LumiNova, which dramatically contrast with the black ceramic dial at night.

The highlight of the collection is the Apollo 8 Tribute, powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3869. It honours the first crew to witness the far side of the Moon, echoing Jim Lovell’s observation that “the Moon is essentially grey.” The watch features a laser-ablated lunar surface on both sides of the movement - the near side visible through the skeletonised grey dial, and the far side revealed through the caseback.
These models are complemented by redesigned nylon and rubber strap options designed for comfort and versatility. The nylon fabric straps are lined with rubber for a comfortable fit, and the rubber straps are embossed with a lunar surface pattern on the underside. The prices for the Omega Speedmaster Dark and Grey Side of the Moon collection range from ₹14,97,200 to ₹15,70,900.
