It was in 2009 when Longines first unveiled its PrimaLuna timepieces. The elegant watches for women featured a moon phase complication, but those were powered by quartz movements. For the latest 2025 evolution, the brand has introduced a mechanical calibre to the collection. Alongside this significant shift, the PrimaLuna has also received a refreshed case design and dial options, offered in eight references. Amongst the two highlight models, one features a blue mother-of-pearl dial and the other comes set with blue sapphires, launched in a campaign starring American actress Jennifer Lawrence.
The new 34 mm case, entirely polished and measuring 11.6 mm in thickness, features domed, curving surfaces that flow seamlessly into the lugs. The case is offered in stainless steel or bi-metal configurations combining steel with either rose gold or yellow gold on the bezel and crown. For more opulence, one stainless steel reference features a bezel set with 58 brilliant-cut diamonds. A flagship blue model has also been introduced in the collection, with a bezel set with 48 blue sapphires arranged in a gradient formation. The front and back of the watch are protected by anti-reflective sapphire crystals. Water resistance of the watch is up to 30 metres.
The dial comes in sunray-brushed silver with painted Roman numerals and a recessed centre, while two mother-of-pearl dials—white or blue—feature 14 diamond indices. Across all references, the moon phase display at 6 o’clock is now enhanced with a pointer date and complemented by baton-style hour and minute hands.
Housed inside is the automatic calibre L899.5 (ETA A31.L91 made exclusively for Longines). The movement runs at a frequency of 3.5 Hz, incorporates a silicon balance spring, and offers a 72-hour power reserve.
The blue sapphire-set model is paired with a matching blue alligator strap. The other versions are available on red, blue, or burgundy alligator leather straps, a steel bracelet, or two-tone steel and gold bracelets, all equipped with triple-folding clasps with pushers.
The price for the new Longines PrimaLuna Moonphase Automatic starts at EUR 2,850 for the stainless steel model with steel bracelet, rising to EUR 3,400 for the white mother-of-pearl version with diamond indices, EUR 6,200 for the bi-metal steel and gold edition, and EUR 6,600 for the flagship blue mother-of-pearl model with sapphire-set bezel.
