Farer has brought back its popular Stratton Moonphase with a more detailed lunar display. First introduced in 2025, the Stratton was the brand’s first gold-coloured moonphase watch with a natural stone dial and a hand-painted moon, which was far from realistic. The brand upped the game with the new Stratton II, introducing a redesigned mooonphase disc that looks more like the natural Moon.

For the project, Farer collaborated with Switzerland’s AJS Production SA, a specialist in movement modification and miniature parts production for major watchmakers. The highlight of the watch is a redesigned moonphase disc produced in Switzerland by AJS Production. Using a proprietary process that combines precision laser micro-etching with multiple layers of paint and Super-LumiNova®, the manufacturer creates a photorealistic moon measuring less than 6 mm in diameter. The moon appears in gold against a black disc and is treated with Super-LumiNova® that glows green in the dark.

Protected by a curved anti-reflective sapphire crystal is a dial cut from Eisenkiesel, a variety of quartz whose German name translates as “iron pebble”, carried over from the original Stratton. The mineral is distinguished by veins of iron compounds that create naturally occurring golden-brown patterns, making each dial unique. The applied baton hour markers and numerals are made from Lumicast, a material made from a blend of ceramic and Super-LumiNova®. The gold lance-shaped hour and minute hands are also treated with the traditional lume, while the seconds hand is polished with a gold Farer “A” at its tip.

The watch retains a 39 mm 316L stainless steel case, measuring 11.8 mm thick including the crystal, with a 45 mm lug-to-lug distance. Its polished surfaces are contrasted by a brushed bezel chamfer and a “grain twist” pattern on the case flanks. A gold PVD coating completes the exterior. The rounded stainless steel crown features a solid bronze cap insert embossed with Farer’s “A” emblem.

The sapphire exhibition caseback gives a view of the Swiss-made Sellita SW288-1 M movement. This Elaboré Grade hand-wound movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour or 4 Hz and offers approximately 45 hours of power reserve. Adjusted in three positions and equipped with an Incabloc shock absorber, the movement also features hacking seconds and a quickset date display at 6 o’clock. The movement is decorated with engraved bridgework bearing its bespoke arrow pattern, blued screws, and “solange” finishing.
The Farer Stratton II is priced at approx. INR 2,40,000.
