Bringing a dazzling touch to its iconic collection, Czapek & Cie has introduced the new Diamond Drops timepiece in its Promenade collection. Inspired by nature, this limited-edition piece reimagines the effect of water ripples—this time, through the sparkle of diamonds and sapphires.
The Diamond Drops follows the success of Goutte d’Eau, which debuted at Watches and Wonders 2024. That watch evoked the gentle ripple of a water droplet hitting a calm surface, with its off-centred small seconds sub-dial marking the point of impact. Building on that idea, CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel explains that Diamond Drops explores water in other forms—like dew in morning light, or ice glistening in the sun.
To bring this vision to life, Czapek partnered with gem-setting experts AB Products. The entire dial is blanketed with diamonds and blue sapphires using a meticulous snow-setting technique. The gemstones chosen are in varying sizes, placed tightly together onto an 18K white gold dial. This creates a seamless, shimmering surface where almost no metal is visible. The dial holds 360 diamonds and 319 sapphires, and takes six days to set by hand. Moreover, 173 diamonds are set on the bezel, flange, and crown, which took another two days.
The watch features a slim 38mm white gold case, housing Czapek’s in-house automatic calibre SXH5.1. The movement has a 60-hour power reserve and is powered by a micro-rotor made of 100% recycled platinum. It also showcases six openworked bridges inspired by 19th-century pocket watches, all finished with fine hand-crafted details like beveling and hand-chamfering.
Diamond Drops is offered with a sapphire blue calf leather strap and will be made to order, limited to just 10 pieces worldwide.
What we think -This is the true mastery of Czapek. Their most basic collection, now adorned with diamonds, makes for a stunning watch any way one looks at it.
