Parisian watchmaker Beaubleu has partnered with Monnaie de Paris, the world’s oldest continuously operating mint, to create La Pièce, a limited-edition collection that marks the first time traditional coin-striking expertise has been applied directly to watch dials.

Produced within the historic Hôtel de la Monnaie workshops, these dials are not assembled from multiple layers but are instead struck from a single piece of metal. This 1,200-year-old heritage technique uses controlled pressure to create raised and recessed surfaces, allowing the design to emerge naturally from the material and interact dynamically with light.

The collection offers two distinct interpretations of this craft, both housed in a 316L stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter, 10.2 mm in thickness, and with a lug-to-lug measurement of 45 mm. The design maintains a clean visual balance with a hidden crown at 3 o’clock and stands out with Beaubleu’s signature circular hour and minute hands alongside a distinctive “flying” seconds hand.

La Pièce No. 1 features non-concentric circles inspired by the movement of daylight, utilising a finely powdered relief that mimics the texture of paper and printed markers that create a moiré effect. This version is available in Graphite, Olive Green, Moka, Champagne, Burgundy, and Empire Blue.

In contrast, La Pièce No. 2 offers a more technical execution with mirror-polished, satin-brushed, and iridescent finishes across a single continuous surface, where the hour markers are machined directly from the struck metal. This second reference is offered in Rose Gold, Silver, and Jet Black.

Both models are powered by the French-made France Ébauches FE automatic calibre, which offers a 46-hour power reserve and is protected by a double-domed sapphire crystal. The watches are water-resistant to 50 metres.

Limited to 888 numbered pieces per colour, La Pièce retails between approx. INR 1,95,000 and approx. INR 2,05,000 depending on the strap configuration.
