Tudor has introduced a new playful version of its Black Bay Chrono with the “Bumblebee” edition in a striking yellow-and-black colour palette. Alongside its captivating character, this timepiece also introduces a significant update to the collection – a compact case, resulting in the new Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee.”
Since its launch, the Black Bay Chrono has occupied a unique position within Tudor’s lineup. It is a watch that effortlessly blends the rugged characteristics of a dive watch with the functionality of a motorsport-inspired chronograph. Over the years, the model has evolved through popular Panda editions, several Formula 1-themed carbon-fibre releases, and, most notably, the bold Pink and Flamingo variants.

Until now, every Black Bay Chrono measured 41 mm in diameter, 14.2 mm thick, and nearly 50 mm lug-to-lug. The new Black Bay Chrono 39 reduces those dimensions across the board. The stainless-steel case now measures 39 mm in diameter, 13.1 mm thick, and 47 mm from lug to lug, creating a noticeably more compact and wearable package.
The redesigned proportions are complemented by several subtle updates. The watch adopts a more traditional screw-down crown design, similar to recent Black Bay and Black Bay 58 models, while the caseback has been reshaped with a more pronounced dome. These changes help reduce the visual bulk of the case, making the side profile appear slimmer than previous Black Bay Chronograph models.
Despite the smaller size, the watch retains the robust specifications that define the collection. It features a brushed and polished stainless-steel case, a fixed steel bezel with a black anodised aluminium tachymeter insert, screw-down chronograph pushers, and a domed sapphire crystal. Water resistance remains unchanged at 200 metres.
The “Bumblebee” nickname comes from the watch’s distinctive dial. Part of Tudor’s “Daring Watches” collection, alongside the Pink and Flamingo models, the new edition features a matte yellow dial paired with black sub-counters and blackened applied markers and hands, while white Super-LumiNova ensures strong legibility in low-light conditions. Tudor’s signature snowflake hour hand remains a key design element, while a discreet date display sits at 6 o’clock.
Powering the watch is Tudor’s MT5813 automatic chronograph movement, which is based on the architecture of the Breitling B01 calibre. The COSC-certified movement incorporates a column-wheel chronograph mechanism, a silicon balance spring, and a variable-inertia balance wheel for improved accuracy and resistance to magnetic fields. The movement operates at 4 Hz with an accuracy of -2/+4 seconds per day and offers a power reserve of about 70 hours.

The watch is fitted with a three-link stainless-steel bracelet featuring polished and satin-brushed finishes. It also includes Tudor’s T-Fit clasp system, which allows quick micro-adjustments for improved comfort throughout the day.
Although the new Tudor Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee” (Ref. M79310N-0001) is not a limited edition, it joins Tudor’s more exclusive “Daring Watches” range and is expected to be produced in smaller numbers than the brand’s core models.
