Tissot has added a fresh collection to its catalogue - the SRV, which traces its roots back to a 1975 Tissot model, itself influenced by the geometric elegance of the Art Deco period of the 1920s. The line’s name, SRV, stands for Sapphire, Rectangular, and V - denoting that the rectangular watches are topped with faceted, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and are water resistant to 5 bar (represented by the Roman numeral ‘V’).

The collection arrives with eight distinct models, all made from 316L stainless steel, offering different coloured cases and dials to choose from. Minimalist in design, options include blue, silver, green, white mother-of-pearl, black mother-of-pearl, champagne, and red dials.

The cases measure 30 mm x 21.80 mm, with a thickness of just 7.25 mm and 12 mm lug-to-lug, creating a compact and elegant presence on the wrist. The crown follows the theme with its faceted cuts. The cases are either regular steel coloured or PVD-coated in yellow or rose gold. A blue dial version and the black mother-of-pearl dial version are accented with diamond indices at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, while the rest feature Roman numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock.

The watches are powered by a Swiss quartz movement, driven by a Renata 364 battery. They are paired with either stainless steel bracelets or interchangeable leather straps, allowing for easy personalisation.

The prices for the SRV models range from ₹37,000 for coloured sunray dials up to ₹52,000 for diamond-set versions.

What we think -

Heartening to see Tissot making watches that are their bread and butter, and taking some of the focus away from the PRX line.
