Founded in 1925 by Frieda Lacher and Ludwig Hummel, Laco evolved over the years into a brand recognised for its pilot and marine watches and was an official manufacturer of B-Uhr pilot watches in the 1940s. The brand developed its own movements and revived its mechanical watch collection after the quartz crisis. In recent years, the brand introduced special-edition watches, collaborated, and last year celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 2020, the Frankfurt collection was launched, introducing a contemporary GMT aviation-inspired travel watch that won the Red Dot Design Award. Now LACO is all set to expand this collection with a new Frankfurt 40 GMT, a pilot-inspired timepiece that is time zone-friendly across the globe.

The watch is crafted in a 40 mm dark sandblasted stainless-steel case that has a thickness of 11.9 mm, weighs 82 grams, with a lug-to-lug length of 47 mm, and a lug width of 20 mm. The case has a tool-watch design, while a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating is fitted on both sides. It features two screw-down crowns, one that operates the internal rotating bezel, while the other is a dark sandblasted screw-down caseback that is decorated with an aircraft relief. The watch is water-resistant up to 200 metres and also offers protection against magnetic fields.

The model "Schwarz" comes with a black dial, whereas the model “Grau” has a grey dial colour. Both watches feature Arabic numerals and hour markers coated with Super-LumiNova C3, while the white minute track enhances readability. The blue hour and minute hands have luminous material filling, whereas the second hand has a luminous coating and an aircraft-shaped counterweight. The orange GMT hand features Super-LumiNova coating that makes it apt to read the second time zone in low-light conditions.

The watch is powered by the Laco 330 automatic movement that has a Sellita 330-2 calibre and supports the GMT function. The self-winding movement offers a 56-hour power reserve.

Pairing the watch is a black, water-resistant, textured-finish FiberTech strap, secured with a stainless-steel buckle. The model also comes with an additional nylon strap, offered with an easy strap-changing tool.

The Laco Frankfurt 40 GMT is priced at approximately INR 2,00,000 and is presented in an aluminium box that includes a 'Remove Before Flight' keyring, watch, additional strap, and strap-changing tool.
