Marking a technical milestone, independent Swiss watch brand Formex has unveiled its new ultra-thin integrated-bracelet dress watch, the Aria Manufacture Chronometer. The 40 mm timepiece debuts with the new FX01 manufacture calibre, a micro-rotor movement co-developed by Formex together with another independent Swiss watch brand and movement maker, Horage.
Crafted with lightweight Grade 5 titanium, the watch adopts an integrated-bracelet layout with fluid, organic lines inspired by nature and the flow of time. The case measures just 6.9 mm thick while weighing only 78 grams, including the bracelet. The case and bracelet are individually hand-brushed to follow the watch’s curved surfaces, while polished bevels provide contrast against the matte titanium architecture. The bracelet itself features subtly curved links intended to improve comfort and fluidity on the wrist, and is also integrated with Formex’s patented micro-adjustment clasp system, allowing on-the-fly sizing adjustments without removing the watch.

The development of the FX01 movement was central to the project. Formex CEO Raphaël Granito explained that creating an ultra-thin automatic watch without sacrificing performance required a dedicated micro-rotor architecture rather than a manually wound calibre. Horage became the ideal partner due to its long-standing expertise in movement engineering and independent calibre development. The resulting FX01 measures only 2.9 mm thick and is COSC-certified, while also delivering more than 72 hours of power reserve and enhanced anti-magnetic performance through the use of a full silicon regulating system, including the hairspring, escape wheel, and pallet fork.
A tungsten micro-rotor was selected to improve winding efficiency despite the compact dimensions of the calibre. According to Formex, the dense tungsten rotor increases winding efficiency by approximately 55 per cent compared with conventional micro-rotor systems, enabling substantial energy storage despite the movement’s slim profile. The calibre also incorporates a flexible geartrain pinion system designed to eliminate backlash during time-setting, allowing the minute hand to respond immediately and precisely to crown adjustments.

Attention has also been given to movement decoration. The bridges are finished with galvanic black-gold plating, vertical brushing, and laser-textured detailing, while hand-brushed bevels create contrast. The open layout afforded by the micro-rotor design also allows an unobstructed view through the sapphire caseback.
On the front side, Formex has used a stamped brass dial with a sculpted concave surface architecture, where each applied index sits on a raised platform separated by gently recessed curves. The small seconds display is positioned at 6 o’clock, while the logo is integrated at 12 o’clock. The dial is offered in three colours – Selva Green, inspired by forest tones; Ardesia Grey, evoking wet mountain slate; and Denso Blue, a dense matte navy intended to absorb rather than reflect light.
The Formex Aria Manufacture Chronometer has initially been launched as a 100-piece Founders Edition, with buyers able to select their preferred dial colour during the pre-order phase. Once orders close, production numbers for each colourway will be determined by customer demand, while total production will remain capped at 100 watches. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in September 2026. The watch is priced at approx. INR 7,25,000.
