Founded in 1983 in Munich by master watchmaker Gerd-Rüdiger Lang, Chronoswiss didn’t stop producing mechanical watches during the quartz crisis and thus built an unforgettable identity. The brand introduced several pieces, including the world’s first serially produced regulator-style wristwatch in 1987 and the first automatic skeletonised chronograph in 1995. When the brand was acquired by Oliver and Eva Ebstein in 2012, the headquarters and production were shifted to Lucerne, Switzerland, and continued to blend traditional Swiss craftsmanship with contemporary design. Carrying forward this legacy, the brand has now introduced two models, the Opus Dakar Sundown and the Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold, putting forward two unique expressions of gold through its contemporary mechanical approach.

Opus Dakar Sundown (Ref. CH-7522.1S-BR)

The Opus Dakar Sundown is inspired by the changing colours of the desert at sunset. The model is a fusion of dichromatic stainless steel and 18K red gold, reflecting the warm hues of the golden hour, and combines a visible chronograph movement with everyday usability.

The model features a 41 mm case with a thickness of 14.80 mm and a total gold weight of 21.4 grams. Its 23-piece case combines satin-brushed and polished finishes, with 18K red gold in the partially knurled bezel, the onion-shaped crown, chronograph pushers, and screw-in lugs. The dial is protected by a curved double anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The screw-down sapphire crystal caseback is surrounded by an 18K red coin-edge ring with a satin finish. The watch offers water resistance up to 30 metres.

The skeletonised dial is finished in brown using a CVD coating, inspired by the warm tones of desert landscapes. It showcases sweep hour and minute hands, a central chronograph seconds hand, a 30-minute counter at 12 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, running small seconds at 9 o’clock, and an analogue date display at 3 o’clock. The display is completed with rhodium-plated Breguet Losange-shaped hands.

Powering the watch is the automatic Chronoswiss Calibre C.7415 skeletonised chronograph movement, operating at a frequency of 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, and offering a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. It also showcases a three-legged Glucydur balance, Nivarox I balance spring, eccentric cam fine adjustment, and Incabloc shock. The movement is decorated with a skeletonised gold-plated rotor featuring Côtes de Genève finishing and ball bearings, while the skeletonised bridges and base plate are finished with perlage and a galvanic black treatment. Polished screws, the pallet lever, and escape wheel add to the overall finishing.

The watch is paired with a sand-coloured nubuck leather strap that complements the warm tones of the case and dial. The textured finish resembles the desert dunes while providing a balanced contrast to the polished and satin-finished metal surfaces.

The Chronoswiss Opus Dakar Sundown is priced at approximately INR 32,00,000 and is limited to 50 pieces.

Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold (Ref. CH-4221RM-GR)

The Pulse collection expands with the Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold model, presenting a fusion of hand-guilloché with a frosted, sandblasted finish. The watch features a dual-time display, apt for travellers tracking two time zones simultaneously. The model retains the collection's architectural design and specifications with a change in the strap.

The model features a 41 mm case with a thickness of 13 mm, constructed from 5N 18K gold. It features a combination of satin-brushed and sandblasted finishes, a partially knurled bezel, curved anti-reflective sapphire crystal, onion crown, and a screw-down sapphire crystal caseback. The water resistance is 50 metres.

The dial features a three-dimensional brass construction with a hand-guilloché centre having a frosted sandblast finish and nickel galvanic coating for a textured crystalline appearance. The display includes central minutes and seconds, a 12-hour counter at 3 o'clock, and a 24-hour GMT counter at 9 o'clock. Domed brass hour markers are sandblasted, nickel galvanic coated, and black painted. The fine sandblasted brass minute ring showcases a black printed minute scale, while a raw sandblasted brass dividing ring displays the Chronoswiss logo in black and is separated by a polished dividing line. The polished PVD-coated appliques, blue-coloured steel screws, and blue polished steel hands in Chronoswiss' signature 'Pyramid' shape complete the dial.

Driving the watch is the automatic Chronoswiss Manufacture Calibre C.6002 with a three-legged Glucydur balance wheel, a Nivarox 1 balance spring, excenter fine adjustment, and Incabloc shock protection. It operates at 4 Hz and delivers a power reserve of around 55 hours. The movement is decorated with a skeletonised tungsten rotor mounted on ball bearings, a polished escape wheel and screws, and a ruthenium-plated bridge finished with Geneva stripes.

The model is paired with an exclusively developed black integrated rubber strap that complements the watch's sporty look while contrasting with the warm gold case. The strap is secured by a Chronoclasp buckle that combines black DLC-coated stainless steel with 5N gold.

The Chronoswiss Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold is priced at approximately INR 51,00,000 and is limited to 50 pieces worldwide.
